He Died at His Post
Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO)
Latitude: -0.500 | Longitude: -91.000
In the boundless reaches of the Pacific, a Coast Guard sailor gave his last full measure of devotion—fallen at his anti-aircraft gun, still at his station. He did not flee. He did not falter. He died defending his ship, his crew, and the cause of liberty.
Let it be known: the United States Coast Guard has fought in every major conflict this nation has faced. From convoy escorts in the icy Atlantic to amphibious landings on Pacific shores, from the jungles of Vietnam to the deserts of the Middle East—they have stood watch, and they have stood fast.
Their oath is the same. Their courage, equal. Their sacrifice, no less.
We owe them honor. We owe them remembrance.
